The Advertising Standards Agency banned two Louis Vuitton ads in the U.K. today for misleading customers.

The images show people who are supposedly Vuitton’s craftsmen doing what looks like hand-stitching to their leather goods. However, Vuitton’s bags and wallets and things are made primarily by machine, not by hand.

The ASA said that although Louis Vuitton provided it with evidence that many ‘hand-crafting techniques’ were used in the production of the bag and wallet, it fell short of what was needed to prove the products were made by hand.

All of us know that even luxury companies have adopted mass production techniques for saving on costs – why they still want to project the opposite image to reality is beyond our comprehension and do they really think that the consumer is that stupid?

Sarah Burton has been appointed as the new creative director of Alexander McQueen.

She succeeds the label’s founder, who committed suicide in February. Burton was McQueen’s right-hand woman and has been head of design for womenswear since 2000.

She also completed McQueen’s fall 2010 collection after the designer’s death just weeks before the show.

The makeup trends for the spring 2010 can be summarized by two words: Soft & Subtle

The emphasis is on healthy and flawless skin, a skin type that is radiant, blemish free and even. So a good skin care regime is a must. For this Spring Summer – the SS 2010, the must haves are: A Sheer Foundation, Bronzer, Lip Gloss with a tinge of pink or peach and Mascara.

Shimmer Lips are a definite must have for this season and as we said before shimmer can be in a tinge of pink or peach. Red Lips will also work for the evenings but as we have stressed again and again pair Red Lips with very light eye makeup.Coral also is going to be huge this season.

A Smokey eye is still in but Spring 2010 gives options for more colors in Smokey eye besides black…the colors that you can try are: Lavender, Lilac, Green and Turquoise.

Deepika Padukone at the Cannes Film Festival, now Ashiwarya Rai is not the only one making the headlines at this year’s Cannes – this time Deepika was also invited and she choose to make a statement by wearing the very “Indian” Sari.
